RECRUITING AND TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CAMPAIGN ORGANIZERS

ORGANIZING CORPS 2020 is recruiting and training young people so they have the skills and experience to put a Democrat in the White House and win up and down the ticket in 2020.

ORGANIZING CORPS 2020 IS GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO WORK ON THE 2020 GENERAL ELECTION

The 2018 midterm elections were a valuable reminder of what’s possible when people show up to the polls. Yet even with a strong slate of candidates and unprecedented volunteer enthusiasm, races were won or lost with razor thin margins.

To take back the White House in 2020, Democrats will need to run a strong ground game that maximizes volunteer enthusiasm and voter engagement. And to do this, we need a cadre of well-trained, local, and diverse organizers that are ready to be activated in battleground states as soon we have a nominee.

Organizing Corps 2020 is recruiting and training 1,000 young people in key battleground states — Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — to work on the 2020 general election, starting in Summer 2019. Organizing Corps 2020 is a paid training and organizing program that will ensure the eventual Democratic nominee and candidates up and down the ballot have access to the talent they need to win: local and diverse field organizers that have ties to their communities; have been trained on the fundamentals of organizing; and have experience in field, digital organizing, and data analytics.

This is how we win.

DEMOCRATS CAN WIN BACK THE WHITE HOUSE

and win up and down the ticket on November 3, 2020, but we need a talented and passionate team of well-trained, local and diverse organizers in key battleground states. Organizing Corps 2020 is building that team today. BECOME A CORPS MEMBER

PARTICIPATE IN THE FUTURE

Organizing Corps 2020’s paid programs train on the art and science of being a field organizer during a presidential election. After completing the program, Organizing Corps helps corps members prepare their resumes and market their organizing skills and experience to campaigns so that they can get to work putting a Democrat in the White House and winning up and down the ticket in 2020.

MEET THE CORPS

After launching in February 2019, Organizing Corps 2020 kicked off training in June 2019 with 300 corps members in 12 cities across 7 states.

77% of corps members identify as people of color

60% of corps members IDENTIFY AS WOMEN

26% of corps members IDENTIFY AS A MEMBER OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY

80% of corps members ARE LOCAL TO THEIR TRAINING REGION (95% ARE IN-STATE)

I feel like I got the bug from this program. I saw so much personal growth throughout this program, but also saw impact (no matter how small) in the communities I was able to work in.

The margins that we can win or lose by in 2020 are field margins, or margins that we, the 30 [Milwaukee corps members] this summer, could potentially make up.

Jadah C.
Milwaukee

My learning experience has been monumental over the last 8-weeks. I learned how to organize for grassroots campaigns […] through phone banking, canvassing, volunteer recruitment and so much more.

Jordan B.
Philadelphia

I learned the skills and tools needed to successfully engage voters and volunteers to get them excited for the 2020 election. I was able to hold a leadership role in guiding volunteers, even assisting my peers with Votebuilder, and working with other community leaders.

Natasha N.
Oakland County

My learning experience with Organizing Corps changed my life. It was such a comprehensive learning experience and I feel so prepared for the future — both with life and my career. OC has given me every skill I need to organize in the future as well as relationships that I will carry with me for life.
